Tet Holiday in VietNam

The biggest annual holiday celebration of Vietnam is coming: Lunar New Year or Tet holiday. The meaning of Tet is ending old year and welcome a new year.

During these days, Vietnamese welcome the next year with good health, lucks, and success. Tet holiday is very special for Vietnamese to reunite and celebrate together. Almost of people clean and decorate thier house with some kinds of flowers. A branch of peach flower or a kumquat tree cannot be absent from every home during these special days. In this case, Vietnamese also prepares some special food for Tet such as; candied fruit, melon seeds, coconut jam, Chung cake, pickled onion, frozen meat and so on.

In this big occasion, people also prepare many interesting activities for Lunar New Year celebration. Young person takes part in the traditional games such as: cooking rice, cock fighting, watching lion dance. Many people visit relatives to wish a happy new year. Adults will give lucky money for children. Woman like going to pagoda to wish good things will come to their family.

This 2015 Tet holiday will last 9 days. That’s why we will not go to office for 9 days.
